We are often asked, at Robin James: ‘Don’t you find, sometimes, that it just isn’t possible to restore a motorcycle? Where a vital component is corroded away, for example, and no replacement is available?’ Well ... not so far, in more than 24 years! We can manufacture a ‘missing part’ ourselves.

What man made in the first place, man’ can make again. (Sometimes, with advances in materials and techniques, even a little better!)

Once, Sandy Cheyne, who won a half-bottle of Scotch recently for travelling a long way with his 1963 Norton Atlas, found that the petrol tank was severely corroded. Did he know of a reason why?

‘I suppose,’ Sandy said, ‘it could have come from my giving it a drop of Scotch, every year, on its birthday ...

‘The amount of water in the Scotch had rotted the tank away. Now the Atlas, complete with restored tank, is toasted in petrol.

Cheers, Sandy!
